With a nod to Cole Porter, I Love Kelowna in the Springtime turns a familiar refrain westward. Early vegetables, herbs, blossoms, and new leaves move across a pale coral ground with more air between them than in the paintings that follow. The garden is still tentative here: unfurling, testing the weather, and gathering momentum. Both a seasonal record and an unabashed love song, the painting celebrates spring in the Okanagan—and the particular happiness of finding oneself at home in a place as it comes back to life.
